Ballard County Medical Clinic

The Ballard County Medical Clinic represents a cooperative effort between Ballard County, the City of Barlow, Diagnostic Imaging Consultants of Paducah and Jackson Purchase Medical Associates and is located in Barlow KY. The Ballard County Medical Center opened May 1, 2008 at the medical clinic where the late Charlene Robinson MD provided services. This medical center provides much needed services to the medically underserved Ballard county region. The Clinic uses a state of the art electronic medical record system which reduces the office paperwork, provides the medical provider 24 hour access to the patients chart and allows prescriptions to be sent to the pharmacy electronically thus reducing the patients wait times.

"We are thrilled to participate in this cooperative effort to extend medical services to the people of Ballard County. Our organization is honored to be given the opportunity to continue with the late Dr. Charlene Robinson's mission of compassionate medical care"

- Shane Carter, CEO of Jackson Purchase Medical Associates.

Bone Densitometry

Bone Densitometry testing is a non-invasive procedure conducted by our radiology department. This test is used to evaluate a patient's risk for osteoporosis. It is also used to determine a patient's response to osteoporosis therapy. The procedure is painless, and requires approximately 30 minutes to perform.

The Coumadin Clinic

Coumadin is an anticoagulant, or blood thinner. Anticoagulants do not really thin out or dilute the blood. They reduce clotting of the blood, and thus reduce the risk of conditions caused by abnormal clot formation. The following conditions may warrant the use of Coumadin therapy:

  • Clots in the extremities and/or lungs
  • Artificial heart valves
  • Heart arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat)
  • Strokes
  • Heart Attacks
  • Blocked Arteries

Millions of patients safely take Coumadin, but it requires tightly regulated dosing, administration, and follow-up. That is why IMG is making the Coumadin Clinic available to you. We provide periodic evaluation and monitoring of the blood so that we can make immediate adjustments to your anticoagulation therapy.

If you are on Coumadin or think you may benefit from the services offered in the Clinic, please speak with your physician about this matter.

Coumadin Clinic hours are 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
